After graduating I enlisted in the Air Force. After serving 7 months in the first Gulf War I transferred to the reserves and returned to Baltimore to complete my degree in accounting at the University of Baltimore. I spent several years in public accounting before taking moving into a Controller position which led to my first CFO opportunity. During the same period I transferred from the reserves to the MD Air National Guard and was commissioned into the officer corps. Post 9/11 I was laid off and went back to actived duty service within the MDANG where I served as the Wing Comptroller. We have five beautiful children - two from each marriage and one adopted. I completed a Master's Degree in Military Science. I am a MD Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Defense Financial Manager. I retired from the military in 2015. After losing my 20 year old son Joshua in 2018, I founded a non-profit in his name to spread suicide awareness and prevention, and became a JROTC Instructor at Patterson High School, Baltimore, MD.

Some of my favorite memories are of John Klausing drawing cartoons of Mr Gephart on the chalk board in the morning. One that stands out the most is Super Geppy (Gephart with a superman cape!).

A moment of silence for one of the teachers who most influenced my life - Mr Setien. He told a story of how a criminal programmed a computer system to drop and deposit the rounding digits of pennies into a special account and stole over a million dollars. He caught my attention, imagination and interest leading me to find my life long passion of accounting.
